Photos #12-48 are of The Hague (Den Haag), on the North Sea,
the third-largest city in the Netherlands after Amsterdam and Rotterdam.
It has a population of 475,000 and is the actual seat of government, but not the capital (in Amsterdam).
The city is famous for being home to over 150 international organisations.
These include the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, the International Court of Justice,
the Appeals Chamber of the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda
and the U.N. International Criminal Court.(photos# 31-32)
Here also is the world’s first organisation for the settlement of international disputes:
the Permanent Court of Arbitration with its magnificent Peace Palace building. (photos# 40-43)
